Your Pharmacy Coverage
NHP partners with Catamaran to provide high quality pharmacy coverage to many of our members.
Getting Started with Pharmacy Benefits
This page has information to get you started using your benefits — and saving money. Your plan documents have a detailed explanation of all your pharmacy benefits.
Log into MyNHP to access your plan documents and see your specific level of pharmacy coverage. Not all NHP plans include pharmacy coverage, so check MyNHP if you have questions about your benefits.
Free or low cost OTC drugs
Pay nothing, or only your plan’s cost sharing, for many common over-the-counter drugs and products with a prescription at a participating pharmacy.
OTC drug benefits vary by plan. Log into MyNHP for exact details, drugs, and medications that are covered under your plan. Learn more about the NHP Prime OTC benefit or about the MassHealth OTC benefit.
Save time and money with a 90-day supply of maintenance medication
If you take certain maintenance medications, the NHP Maintenance90 program requires you to get a 90-day supply. This helps ensure that you always have your most important medications on hand. Your cost sharing may also be lower when you fill a 90-day prescription. See a list of drugs eligible for the Maintenance90 program.
- Access 90 –
Fill your 90-day prescriptions right in your local participating pharmacy with our Access90 program.
- Mail order –
Order your 90-day supply through the mail through our Mail Order Program. Download the mail order form for details. Mail order is available for NHP Prime commercial members only.
Generic medications save money
You will pay your plan’s lowest cost sharing amount for generic medications. Generic medications have the same active ingredients, quality, and results as brand name drugs, and they are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). When you fill a prescription with your NHP benefits, you will automatically receive generic medications unless your provider specifies “no substitution” on your prescription.
Some drugs require a prior authorization
If you are a new NHP member and take prescription medications regularly, you can check the Drug Lookup tool to check if your medications are covered and if you need prior authorization for any of them. Contact the doctor who wrote your prescription if you do need a prior authorization. Or call the Customer Service number on the back of your ID card for help checking your medications.
