Neighborhood Health Plan covers vaccinations for children and adults as appropriate to the member's age. The cost of vaccinations is included in the office visit. Ask your doctor about vaccinations for you and your child today.
Allergy shots are covered by NHP. If you or your child suffers from allergies and/or asthma, speak to your doctor about allergy shots.
Immunizations are important in keeping your children healthy. They can help fight the flu, chicken pox, measles, and many more illnesses. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Vaccines and Immunization web site to access tools to track your children's immunizations and to learn more.
Immunizations are not just for kids. Adults need immunizations to fight dangerous illnesses and infections. These vaccines are especially important if you are pregnant, have a medical condition such as asthma or diabetes, or are over 50. Ask your doctor about getting vaccinated against:
- Flu (influenza)
- Hepatitis B
- Measles, mumps, rubella
- Tetanus and diphteria
- Varicella (chicken pox)
For your reference, a printable Adult Immunization Chart from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is also available.
If you are planning to travel overseas you may need additional vaccinations against diseases such as malaria, typhoid fever, or yellow fever, which are rare in the U.S. Contact your Primary Care Provider at least six months before departing to ask about vaccinations you might need.
