The Plan

In April 2006, the legislature passed a new law that will expand access to health insurance to all Massachusetts residents. Ranked among the top twenty health plans nationwide for member satisfaction,* and, as one of the top five HMOs in Massachusetts, Neighborhood Health Plan offers you and your family a high quality and affordable health care partnership. Depending on your income, as a Massachusetts resident, you can obtain health insurance through one of the three components below:

• Those earning 150% or less of the FPL (Federal Poverty Level) may pay no premiums.
• Those earning above 150% and up to 300% can enroll in plans that are subsidized by the state on a sliding scale, which means that the state will pay a part of their monthly premiums.
• Finally, those earning more than 300% of the FPL can now purchase without subsidies their own health insurance under new plans developed by insurance companies. Please visit the NHP Commonwealth Choice website for more information on these plans.
