Community Roots

Neighborhood Health Plan was founded in 1986 by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and the Greater Boston Forum for Health Action.

Focusing on building strong relationships with providers and community organizations and achieving health equity for all, NHP has experienced significant growth in its 25 year history. Today, NHP is staffed by over 400 employees and serves more than 240,000 members.

Commitment to Health Equity and Diversity

NHP is more than a health plan. We are a partner committed to eliminating health disparities through innovative and award-winning initiatives such as asthma treatment for adults and children, mammography outreach to Black and African-American women, and diabetes management, to name a few. Our members comprise a broad range of cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, and physical abilities and sexual orientations. This diversity is reflected in our employee base, ensuring that the care and service delivered meets the diverse needs of the communities we serve.
