Neighborhood Health Plan Vice President Speaks on Diversity at Massachusetts National Guard Convention
Joanne Derr, Vice President of Human Resources speaks to senior leaders on best practices in diversity
Boston, MA - March 17, 2011 - Joanne Derr, Vice President of Human Resources for Neighborhood Health Plan (NHP), addressed the Massachusetts National Guard during its Diversity Training Conference on March 16, 2011 at the Westin Copley Place in Boston.
NHP is a managed-care organization that works to ensure affordable comprehensive care for diverse communities, government and local businesses across Massachusetts. Honored in 2010 with the Boston Business Journal "Leaders in Diversity Award" and the Color-Magazine "All-Inclusive Leadership Award," NHP has demonstrated its commitment and achievement as a leader in diversity.
"Workplace diversity is an integral counterpart of any successful organization," said Derr. "I am honored to share NHP's experience in developing a more diverse workplace with the Massachusetts National Guard."
Ms. Derr's career in human resources spans more than 20 years. Prior to joining NHP in 2008, she was the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and also had served as Director of Leadership Strategy at Nortel Networks.

The annual National Guard Diversity Training Conference brings together National Guard diversity practitioners, senior leaders, and command teams to strengthen their working knowledge and technical skills. Derr was invited on behalf of NHP to speak on the impact of diversity within the organization, providing valuable insight to create a complete program for the National Guard.
