NHP Named One of Country’s Top Five Medicaid Health Plans

NCQA lists Neighborhood Health Plan to “Honor Roll” for fourth straight year

BOSTON, September 21, 2011 – Neighborhood Health Plan has been named one of the top five Medicaid health plans nationally for the fourth year in a row by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

Neighborhood Health Plan was listed at Number Four out of the 104 Medicaid plans that were ranked across the country in the NCQA’s 2011-12 Health Insurance Plan Rankings for Medicaid. These scores reflect member satisfaction and success in preventing and treating illness and are based on comprehensive quality performance reviews conducted by NCQA.

"Neighborhood Health Plan has long been a champion in providing access to quality care for its membership and Massachusetts has long been a leader in providing quality care for its Medicaid programs," said Deborah C. Enos, president and CEO of Neighborhood Health Plan. "Being recognized as one of the top plans for four years in a row demonstrates that our health plan, working in partnership with our provider network, has the ability to consistently achieve true quality care."

The rankings were developed by comparing performance data for health plans voluntarily provided to NCQA with results from consumer surveys conducted through the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) measures and from on-site and off-site evaluations of more than 60 standards and selected Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set HEDIS®) performance measures that show health plans’ relative performance for preventing and treating illness.

"At Neighborhood Health Plan, we strive to continuously provide the best care possible for members,” said Paul Mendis, M.D., chief medical officer of NHP. ”NCQA's accreditation distinguishes our dedication to high quality care to the members we serve.”
